A 2020 vision of Belfast as one of the top 10 cycling cities in the UK
“Belfast Cycle City” is a new campaign by Belfast Friends of the Earth focusing on cycling provision in the city.
To accomplish this vision, we are calling on Belfast City Councillors to take three main actions:
- create a new 10 year cycle strategy in 2010
- set a target of 10% of all journeys to be made by bicycle by 2020
- increase annual cycle spending to £15 per person, in line with the top performing English cities.
The immediate goal is to have support from 50% of City Councillors, before taking the campaign to Stormont.
